Reiko Sudo of NUNO, which has been making cloth with artisans from various dyeing and weaving regions in Japan since its establishment in 1984, has been working on a very special kind of cloth since 2007. The cloth is made from "kibiso," the by-product of the silk reeling process that produces raw silk from cocoons. The cloth is said to have high moisturizing power, UV absorption, and antioxidant properties, and is used as an ingredient in skin care products.
